  • Frying Pan Dash June 14-15

    Captain’s Meeting: June 13 6 pm CFYC

    This is a long distance OPEN regatta open to self-righting monohull and multi-hull sailboats at least 20’ in length. It will be an overnight race starting in the river Channel past Bald Head between 1800 and 1830 on Saturday, 6/14/2025. Time limit expires on 1200 on Sunday 6/15/2025.

     Contestants log their self-recorded time crossing the starting line between CF River Channel Markers 11 and 12 using the Race Q’s application (this link will allow you to install the application on your phone https://raceqs.com/started/). Racers will be encouraged to leave the river channel past these marks and proceed to the Tower.

     A Race Committee Boat will be on station at the starting line to support he start from 1800 to 1830 on 6/14/2025.

     Boats will keep in touch through the night on Channel 78 reporting in 2 hour intervals beginning at 1900.

     Boats completing the course will record the time of crossing the finish line between CF Bouys 11 and 12.

  • Ed Harper Memorial Regatta August 26

    Captain’s Meeting: Saturday prior to race starts (by fleet)

    The Ed Harper Memorial Regatta welcomes Optimist, Sunfish and 420 sailors of all ages.

    It is designed to be a “first regatta” for youth from summer sail camp. However, local experienced sailors are encouraged to join in the fun while they assist and teach new sailors.

    This is the perfect regatta to learn the racing ropes.

  • Around Oak Island - Sunfish Sept. 20

    Captain’s Meeting: Saturday 0800, Provision Company with start to follow at 0900

    After a six year hiatus, it is time to test the thickness of those hiking pants and your ability to apply sunscreen in the longest Sunfish regatta in N.C. Oak Island is 14 miles long and one mile wide making for a 28+ mile regatta.

    The record time is 4 hours 57 minutes and 25 seconds held by local, Glenn Walker.

    The race will begin and end near American Fish promising a gentle start down the ICW before it meets the confluence of the Cape Fear River and sailors turn toward Old Baldy on Bald Head Island. Sailors choosing to hug the coast will pass another lighthouse and two piers before making it through the narrow Lockwood Folly Inlet. The backside of the island provides a relaxing sail under two bridges and back to the yacht club for cold beverages and awards.

    9:00 Warning Signal - The warning signal will sound at roughly 9 am. The start and finish line will be in the vicinity of American Fish. A laminated navigation chart will be provided at registration.
