YOUTH SAILING 2010
YOUTH SAILING

Sailing Musings

The week of July 19th we completed our most successful youth sailing season since the program was revitalized four years ago.  We had 30 young sailors this summer, an increase of two from last year.  More important, the majority have permanent ties to the Brunswick County area.

I could not be more pleased with the quality of instruction provided to the kids by our own two young instructors, Andrew Bates and Nick Reschly.  Andrew was on sabbatical the final week, replaced in the lineup by his father.  Andrew is sailing Great Peconic Bay (Mattituck Yacht Club), representing CFYC and the SAYRA region in the Sunfish North American Junior and Open Championships beginning today.  Wish him well and check out his results at http://www.sunfishclass.org/north-americans/?cat=13.

Since 2007, Cape Fear Yacht Club has introduced over 100 youngsters to the pleasures of boating and, in particular, to sailing. You should be very proud.

See you on the water,

Kim Sniffin
